Memorials: The Madison County Covered Bridge Preservation Association. Wyman R. Wilson was born on February 7, 1942 the son of Paul and Reva (Helm) Wilson. He graduated from Macksburg High School in 1960. His marriage to Nancy Adams took place on September 16, 1961 and to this union two children, Mark and Lori, were born. After working with Dr. Van Allen of the University of Iowa, Lockheed Electronics and NASA (where some of his stuff landed on the moon and orbited Mars), Wyman returned to Winterset, working in the mortgage, real estate and insurance industries. In 1994 Wyman opened The Roseman Covered Bridge Shop. At that time he noticed an increase in traffic to the bridge he had lived next to for 25 years. The shop was an instant success and an expansion was completed in 1995. Soon after the release of the movie, The Bridges of Madison County, Wyman began running the shop full time. His likeable personality and love of people made this venture a perfect career move for Wyman. Later he helped to organize and establish Covered Bridge Reality of which he was co-owner. He was a member of the Oak Grove Church and Madison County Covered Bridge Preservation Association and served on the Madison County Airport Board, Madison County Chamber Board as well as being a member of the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors. When not working, Wyman would unwind by either sailing or flying, both hobbies of his which he was passionate about. Wyman died August 6, 2010 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was 68. Wyman is survived by his son, Mark Wilson (Heather) of West Des Moines, his daughter, Lori Van Cleave (Chad) of Columbus, NE; a brother, Wayne Wilson (Bev) of Macksburg; and five grandchildren, Isabelle, Eliza and Harrison Wilson and Emily and Adam Van Cleave. Wyman was preceded in death by his parents.
