Zada Springer

Zada Helen Springer, daughter of Charles Claude Mansfield and Helen W. (Miller) Mansfield, was born October 17, 1932 at her parents' home in Herndon, Iowa and died September 16, 2009 at North Iowa Hospice in Mason City, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 10 months, 29 days. Zada's funeral services were held at11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009 Hastings Funeral Home, Perry, Iowa, Mr. Tom Stone of Perry, Iowa presided and provided Word of Comfort. Her casket bearers were John Boehm Don Mousel Ron Jennings, Greg Tue, Tom Stephany andGene Kinney, the pianist was Bertha Mae Van Horn the soloist was Jennifer Newton, the hymns were Amazing Grace and In The Garden, burial was a t Violet Hill Cemetery Perry, Iowa. The ladies of the first Christian Church pre pair and served a lunch at the Church. Zada attended Richland Township School and then worked at Priebe's in Perry. On April 21, 1951, Zada married Charles H. Springer. They were blessed with three sons, Richard Charles, Gary Dean, and Lynn Eric. They made their home in Perry for many years until the Railroad left Perry and work took them to Mason City in 1980. They later moved to Clear Lake in 1990. Zada had tended bar for the Country Club in Mason City and for Willow Run. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, loved all music, and especially enjoyed CMT on television. Zada loved dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Amy Springer, brothers George & Albert Mansfield in infancy; Quentin, Floyd, Royal, Lyle, and Dwight Mansfield; and sisters Dora and Darlene Mansfield. Zada is survived by her husband Charles "Charlie" Springer of Clear Lake, IA; sons, Richard and wife Debbie of Creston, IA; Gary and wife Julie of Phoenix, AZ; Lynn and special friend Marlise Shevik of Clear Lake, IA; three granddaughters Mindy Jones and special friend Bob Herrold, Susan Phipps and husband Trevor, and Cally Springer, great grandchildren, Taylor Jones, Kole Lovely, and Brady Phipps. She is also survived by her sisters, Lois Heisler and husband Cliff of Perry, IA; Uneta Dowd and husband Joe of Perry, IA; brothers, Lincoln Mansfield and wife Geri of Kansas City, MO; and Dwaine Mansfield and wife Sheila of Perry, IA; sisters-in-law Eunice Mansfield of Maxwell, IA; and Mae Mansfield of Perry, IA; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
